Meet the A Team – Minarva
In the latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment. Within this article, we’ll introduce you to Minarva, one of our Post Placement Support Consultants based in Parramatta, NSW. Everyone, meet Minarva!
Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?
The role of people working in employment services is to care about people, to make life better, to relieve suffering, and make a difference in developing community. I am a person who always loves contributing to the community and that’s the main reason I choose this job.
What does a day in the life of your role look like?
On an average day of work, I start the day by checking emails and prioritising where I need to focus on. One of the most important parts is contacting and meeting with clients to help them to be job ready. I finish my day by summarising my daily activity with my Team Leader.
Can you recall a time when you helped a participant?
I met a participant called David who came into our Auburn office asking for a provider that he can connect to, engage with and receive support. I listened to David and assured him that we will provide all the support he needs throughout his journey of finding suitable role. The next day David registered with AimBig employment. David wants to be a sports coach in the future and to do that he needs to save some money for the training. David discussed with me that the income support he receives from DHS is not enough and he wants to work to save money for his hobby and future career.
To take the step towards saving money for his goals, David found a job at Coles Fairfield and has been successfully working for over 3 weeks now with the right support. He has proven himself at work by managing more shifts and is viewed as a responsible employee at Coles. Having a job is about more than money for David, he thrives on the sense of purpose which employment provides. David is very humble guy, and very appreciative of the support and help that is provided to him.
What do you love about your role?
I appreciate the opportunity of meeting a wide range of people, listening, knowing and assisting them for work. Every client has different needs and distinct circumstances which allow me to have new experiences every day as well as grow professionally working in this role.
What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?
I am an adventurous person, always up for taking risks and trying new methods to achieve success!
