Chaise is raising the roof on his future

Chaise’s previous encounters with service providers had left him disillusioned and disheartened. He entered AimBig Employment at Proserpine with a pessimistic outlook, believing they would be no different from his past experiences. Chaise openly expressed his frustration, stating that no provider had ever truly assisted him, and he had always managed to secure employment independently. He showed no inclination to participate in meetings or fulfil his mutual obligations, often displaying aggression towards the staff—an attitude he later acknowledged as inappropriate.

Adding to his challenges, Chaise grappled with homelessness and many medical and mental health issues, further compounded by his lack of transportation. His negative attitude towards AimBig was palpable, and it seemed that the road ahead would be an arduous one.

During this trying period, AimBig Employment’s Business Manager Tina met Chaise, coincidentally on a day when he needed to re-engage to restore his payments. Chaise told Tina he still felt that AimBig would be similar to previous providers and not have the ability to support him. However, through an extensive conversation, Tina discerned a crucial piece of information: Chaise needed a White Card to access suitable employment within the construction industry, which AimBig could certainly support him with. Recognising the importance of the White Card for Chaise’s career prospects, she enrolled him in a course scheduled for the following week and sent him a confirmation via SMS detailing the course’s date, time, and location.

Unfortunately, a day before the course, Chaise contacted AimBig, explaining that he couldn’t attend due to a family emergency requiring immediate attention. Undeterred, AimBig rescheduled Chaise for the same day and time the following week. This time, Chaise attended the course and successfully obtained his White Card—an achievement that held immense promise for his future.

In the subsequent week, Chaise visited AimBig’s office with a newfound gratitude for the assistance he had received. His attitude had radically transformed; he now genuinely wanted to secure employment. Ange, his Job Coach, commended Chaise for improving communication and completing the White Card course.

Ange soon found a job listing for a Roofer Labourer and promptly shared the employer’s contact information with Chaise. Acting on this lead, Chaise reached out to the employer later that day and secured a trial for the following day.

The trial marked a turning point for Chaise. He succeeded in securing the role of a roofer’s labourer with Tin Lid Roofing and began working approximately 38 hours a week. Chaise found himself assisting tradesmen in roof installation and renovation projects. Ange continued to support him, ensuring he had the necessary tools for the job and assisting with transportation costs, demonstrating AimBig’s commitment to Chaise’s success.

Chaise’s newfound stability and gratitude shone through when he said, “Without you guys, I wouldn’t have had a job. I’m loving the job, and I’m turning up every day.” The AimBig Post Placement Support team extended the employer a Youth Bonus Wage Subsidy, which was gratefully accepted. The employer is exceedingly pleased with Chaise’s performance, cementing his position as a valuable addition to the team.

Chaise’s journey with AimBig Employment is a testament to the transformative power of support, guidance, and determination. AimBig Employment’s commitment to Chaise’s growth and success has not only changed his life but also enriched the workforce of Tin Lid Roofing.
