Brooke Delivers on Her Potential in the Whitsundays
Finding the right job can be challenging – especially when you’re exploring new industries, building confidence and navigating limited local opportunities. For Brooke, a young Indigenous woman from Proserpine, the journey to employment was filled with uncertainty, but also determination, resilience and a strong support network.
Back in May, Brooke secured a role as a Courier Driver with CCI Freight, servicing the Whitsunday Region. It’s a fantastic outcome that reflects her incredible attitude and motivation, as well as the tailored support she received from her AimBig Employment team.
Initially, Brooke worked with her job coach to explore roles in Minesite cleaning and retail, but nothing quite felt like the right fit. That’s when she was introduced to Andrea, our Business Development Consultant. Together, they looked beyond traditional options and focused on what Brooke truly wanted from a job – something active, independent and meaningful.
When a Courier Driver position became available at CCI Freight, thanks to an existing strong relationship foundation, Andrea encouraged Brooke to give it a go. Drawing on her own experience in non-traditional roles, Andrea helped Brooke see the potential and believe in herself.
Since starting, Brooke has settled in beautifully. With ongoing support from her employer, workmates and our team, she’s thriving in her new role. Staff feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – Brooke is going well and is already a valued member of the team.
Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support and a willingness to try something new, great things can happen.
