Roma’s Career Boost: AimBig Showcase Links Job Seekers with Employment Opportunities

On April 16th 2024, the AimBig Employment Roma team held an ‘AimBig Work Ready Showcase’. The objective of the event was to empower individuals facing unemployment or living with a disability, injury, or health condition to discover their next career move.

With the increasing demand for tailored employment solutions, AimBig is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and diverse workforce in Roma. As a major provider of both Workforce Australia and Disability Employmen  t Services (DES), AimBig specialises in crafting personalised pathways for job seekers and building robust relationships with local businesses.

Greg Luck, CEO of AimBig, stated, “Our aim is to work closely with businesses to understand their needs and connect them with talented individuals who are ready to contribute to their workforce.”

The AimBig Work Ready Showcase featured a large number of our local employer partners offering a range of employment opportunities, and local community organisations offering apprenticeships and training options. Attendees were afforded the chance to engage in face-to-face interactions, complete on-the-spot interviews, and receive guidance from AimBig staff on improving job search strategies, interview skills, and workplace integration.

“We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive in the workplace,” added Mr Luck. “Through events like the AimBig Work Ready Showcase, we strive to create meaningful connections between our jobseekers and employers, ultimately contributing to the economic prosperity of Roma and surrounds.”

Echoing this sentiment, James Balgabis from Roma McDonalds shared, “We were excited to participate in the AimBig Work Ready Showcase and connect with motivated individuals from our community. Our company values diversity and inclusivity, and events like this provide us with an excellent platform to discover talented individuals who can contribute to our team.”

David New from Local Jobs Darling Downs commented “AimBig’s successful Roma Showcase event demonstrated the value of engagement with local businesses and community, offering participants exciting opportunities. I have no doubt the event will generate employment outcomes”

With significant preparation work conducted by AimBig’s Job Coaches, our Participants brought their updated CVs and dressed professionally for the event with employers also given the opportunity to get involved prior to the day. In addition to meeting with employers, jobseekers were encouraged to try out AimBig’s virtual reality goggles providing insight across many industries and careers.

AimBig’s Work Ready Showcase was incredibly successful for everyone that attended including jobseekers, employers, community stakeholders and the AimBig team.

We had wonderful support on the day from local employers including McDonalds, Maranoa Council, Woolworths, Golden West Apprenticeships, Harness Energy, Southwest QLD Health, MRC and Anglicare.

These employers provided incredible feedback and expressed interest in attending more of these style events. For the Employers, it provided a one-stop-shop and quick and simple way to access talented jobseekers, given the preparatory work undertaken prior to the event by AimBig. Across the day there were 46 interviews with 23 jobseekers shortlisted for roles, a fantastic result.

The Roma community collaborated and got involved in the event by contributing furniture and supplies. It was also covered by local media outlets, with links to media provided for your reference at ABC Radio Southern Queensland and Maranoa Today.

Following the success of this event, and based on the demand and feedback from the employers, AimBig aims to host further Work Ready Showcases in Chinchilla, Warwick and Mackay in May.
