Teena’s Journey to a Flexible and Fulfilling Career

Teena’s story is one of resilience, adaptability, and finding the right fit for both her career and family life. As the principal carer in her family and dealing with medical issues related to lower limb deficiencies, Teena has faced significant challenges in finding employment that accommodates her needs.  

However, things took a positive turn for Teena when she connected with AimBig Employment and her dedicated job coach, Marie Shield, from the Chinchilla office. With AimBig’s support, Teena was first guided into a Hospitality Traineeship. This opportunity was tailored to accommodate her medical needs and school drop-off times, providing her with the necessary flexibility. 

During a break from her role as carer, Teena happened to meet the AimBig Team Leader on the street. She shared her newfound passion for conservation, which sparked an exciting opportunity. The Team Leader invited Teena to the Chinchilla Work Ready Showcase, where Bio Diversity Australia was present. This event allowed Teena to gather information and apply for a position that aligned with her interests. 

Teena’s enthusiasm and dedication paid off as she successfully secured a role with Bio Diversity Australia. This new position is not only a testament to her hard work but also a perfect match for her need for flexibility. The role offers adaptable duties and hours, allowing Teena to maintain the crucial work-life balance she values so much. 

Bio Diversity Australia has been a supportive employer, understanding the importance of balancing family commitments with work responsibilities. They have provided Teena with the considerations she needs, making this a truly fulfilling opportunity for her. 

Teena has since returned to AimBig for additional support, using participant computers to complete her induction paperwork as she eagerly prepares to start her new role. Her story is an inspiring example of how perseverance, the right support, and finding the right fit can lead to a successful and rewarding career.
