Rebecca’s Leap to Success From Struggles to a New Career with Whitsunday Crane Hire

Rebecca, a dedicated mother of 3 boys, came to AimBig Employment with a strong desire to upskill and secure meaningful, sustainable employment. Despite her commitment to studying a Certificate III in Horticulture through Bowen TAFE, the course’s limited schedule and long commute made it challenging for her to complete. Relying solely on Centrelink was not an option for Rebecca, who had always been proactive in her career.

Rebecca’s determination led her to apply for various jobs, and with the support of AimBig, Business Manager Tina, they explored different upskilling courses to enhance her employability. They also discussed how AimBig could assist her in securing a job and meeting her mutual obligations if she found employment. Rebecca needed a job that fit her school-hour schedule, and she believed a position with the local public transport company would be ideal. However, after discussing the potential challenges of split shifts, Rebecca also applied for a Yardsman position with Whitsunday Crane Hire.

Tina reached out to Casey Loft, Co-Owner/Manager of Whitsunday Crane Hire, to discuss Rebecca’s application. Casey, familiar with Employment Services, was interested in the support AimBig could offer both her business and Rebecca. Tina explained how the Employment Fund could be used to upskill Rebecca with necessary licenses and tickets.

Rebecca was invited for an interview, and with Tina’s guidance on interview techniques and discussing her caring responsibilities, she impressed Casey and was offered the position of Yards Person. This role involves maintaining work vehicles, equipment, grounds work, and assisting with day to day jobs.

Whitsunday Crane Hire saw Rebecca’s potential and willingness to learn, and with the current casual staffing climate, they decided to invest in her training. AimBig Employment assisted Rebecca in obtaining her Forklift and Dogging Licenses, ensuring she was well-prepared for her new role.

Rebecca is grateful for the understanding and support from her employer, Casey, who recognises the challenges of raising a young family. Casey and her husband Jack, who operates the machinery, saw Rebecca’s dedication and hard work, making her a valuable addition to their team. Rebecca appreciates the upskilling opportunities provided by AimBig Employment, which have enabled her to secure a stable job and support her family.
