Mental Health Month Webinars – Special Guest speaker Matthew Levy OAM
October is Mental Health Month and AimBig Employment are hosting a series of webinars on a variety of topics. At 10:30am on Thursday 15 October, we feature a special session “Morning Motivation with Matthew Levy”, an inspiring individual that has had to overcome many obstacles throughout his life, making it as a Paralympic swimmer.
Matthew Levy was born 15 weeks prematurely with cerebral palsy and vision impairment and has survived 50-plus operations on his brain, heart, lungs, ears. As part of his rehabilitation, he found his strength in the pool, which he used as used to keep his body moving. But it was in 2000 when he realised he could take it competitive, and the next 20 years of his life began to take shape. Matthew has seen great success in his career, competing in four Paralympic Games and bringing home multiple gold, silver and bronze medals. In 2014, he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to sport as a Gold Medallist at the London 2012 Paralympic games. Outside the pool, Matthew is a member of Paralympics Australia’s Mob Leadership Team, and World Para-swimming‘s and Commonwealth Games Australia’s Athlete Advisory Groups.
