Meet the A Team – Michelle

In the latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment

In this edition of Meet The Team, we’ll introduce you to Michelle, one of the Ongoing Support Consultants based in St Albans, VIC. Everyone, meet Michelle!

Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?

To make an impact in changing someone’s life for the better. we all need a little help at some point in our life.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

Every day is different which I really like and is a combination of appointments, assessor interviews, face to face meetings with participants, lots of typing, claims and staff meetings and traveling to and from other sites. There is always something to do.

What do you love about your role?

My team, they really are amazing and I also love supporting my clients.

Can you recall a time when you have helped a participant?

I shared a good news story on this client named Silvio who has Bipolar disorder and so as a result his mental health can fluctuate often. When Silvio’s is having a tough time with his mental health, I need to make sure he is on track with things like going to work and regularly taking his medication. In the past, this has had an impact on his job which meant that I needed to step in and speak with Silvio’s manager to make sure that he was still employed despite his setback. I often provide Silvio a lot of emotional support and encouragement to help him build his confidence. Since doing this, Silvio has come so far which has meant that now when he experiences mental health challenges, he will call me first rather than take time off work like he has in in the past.

What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

My favorite sweet is licorice or white chocolate.
