Meet the A Team – Leanne

In our latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment. Within this article, we’ll introduce you to Leanne, one of our job coaches based in Norwood, SA. Everyone, meet Leanne

Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?

I fell into it by accident and after being long term unemployed found exactly where I belonged and now celebrate 24 years in this industry.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

I do the same thing every day and yet no 2 days are the same. I laugh, I cry, I get excited and I understand every day…. it’s just the depth that varies within the myriad of circumstances that our customers’ face. I do what I can when I can to make sure our customers know they are valued, respected and loved no matter what.

Can you recall a time when you helped a participant?

Homeless, estranged from his wife, sick child in and out of hospital. Mental health was severe and this customer was at his wits end. I created a new resume completely different to his previous ones. We spoke about his short term and long term goals and then I did reverse marketing in front of him to show how I speak about him and how I speak to employers about what he had to offer. He met with a few employers and successfully gained employment. I recently asked if there has been an improvement in his mental health and he said he has developed new goals and used words such as inspired, motivated, happy, content, energetic etc.

What do you love about your role?

The people. I love our customers and AimBig has the culture and the staff that feels like a family I can trust.

What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

I love to write and sing like nobody’s listening.
