Meet the A Team – Gary

In the latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment. Within this article, we’ll introduce you to Gary, one of our Post Placement Support Consultants based in Caloundra, QLD. Everyone, meet Gary!

Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?

I think Employment Services chose me. I’ve always been a people person and working with the public in the hospitality sector for many years. I transitioned from a trainer in Hospitality moving people into work from six month food and beverage courses and it seemed like a natural fit to supporting the community.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

No day is the same. No client is the same and this makes the day really interesting and dynamic. From the moment you arrive the day is focused on supporting the clients, taking steps towards moving them into employment, community & employer engagement.

Can you recall a time when you helped a participant?

I’ve been in the industry since 1998 and over the years there has been so many great clients in need of support and thinking back over this period of time I have helped well over a 1000 people into work

What do you love about your role?

I have always liked to empower my clients to move forward, watch their confidence, growth and their success.

What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

I’ve always been artistic and enjoy experimenting, creating new art pieces or working with timber to create furniture.
