Meet the A Team – Di

In the latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment. Within this article, we’ll introduce you to Di, one of our Job Coaches based in Dalby, QLD. Everyone, meet Di!

Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?

To help people.

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

A steady stream of participants coming in, seeing walk-ins, assisting with calls, doing reports that have come through, talk to employers, assisting other team mates if needed, it’s a pretty diverse role.

Can you recall a time when you helped a participant?

I helped a participant with very limited computer/phone skills, I linked them up with the CEA Program & he became pretty good at using technology. He went from being grumpy and unenthusiastic, to coming in & sitting with me using computers and gaining the independence to do it solo. I then forwarded the participant to an employer & he started work the next week, & ended up exiting. This particular participant was over the moon! I kept his voicemail and I listen to it when I am having a bit of a rough day at work as a reminder to keep going.

What do you love about your role?

Every day is different! I enjoy helping people & teaching, even if it’s just giving them skills to use their phones or the computer, it’s about empowering people by giving them independence.

What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

My personal best in leg press is 265kg.
