Meet the A Team – Bec

In the latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment. 

In this edition of Meet The Team, we’ll introduce you to Bec, one of the Job Coaches based in Chinchilla, QLD. Everyone, meet Bec!

Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?

I have a strong passion to help others and make them realise their dreams can become reality – you just have to make that first step!!

What does a day in the life of your role look like?

Lots of Patience, a whole heap of compassion, a tear here or there and alot of satisfaction!

What do you love about your role?

Watching the pride in peoples’ faces when their success becomes their destiny!!

Can you recall a time when you have helped a participant?

My very first initial appointment was very challenging. My client entered the office and basically hid behind my computer monitor and would not even look at me to talk. By the end of our appointment I was getting some small sentences and a little bit of conversation out of him. By the time he came in for his second face to face appointment with me, he walked in with such confidence, no hat to hide under and sat tall in his chair and had a full appointment with lots of conversation, confidence and even laughter! He was a totally different person. I commended him for this and he told me that he was able to walk in with such confidence because he felt listened to, understood and I was nowhere near as scary as his last job coach at a different company. He said that he felt like he could connect with me and I gave him the confidence to get out and reach his dream – to join the Army! My client is now making steps to move forward into the recruitment appointment stage, which after reading his notes, is a HUGE step for him.

What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?

You’re never too old for Disney!
