Case study
DawnChere is 58 years old and wants to re-enter the workforce now that her children have all grown up and moved away. She has an intellectual disability which she feels may hold her back from applying for the jobs she’s interested in.
DawnChere is matched with her AimBig Job Coach Stephanie, and together they go through DawnChere’s work experience and skills relevant to applying for office administration roles.
Stephanie organises for DawnChere to take an administration course at TAFE to refresh her skills. They also work on DawnChere’s resume and interview skills in preparation for her first interview.
At DawnChere’s interview, she’s able to draw on her skills from past roles and training she’s recently had to secure her first job in over 20 years.
Stephanie regularly checks in with DawnChere to see how she is. DawnChere will be undertaking a book-keeping course to move into a new role at her current workplace in the near future.
