A job coach plays a key role in shaping the future of the job seekers they work with. From leading and designing employment plans to helping employers recruit for vacancies to regularly meeting with participants, a job coach is an essential allrounder. Our Job Coach Isma, based in Campbeltown, empowers people with disability to find employment, while also getting a few laughs in along the way.
How did you become a job coach?
I assisted student with specials needs in high school whilst completing my high school graduation and found that to be very rewarding and I felt satisfied assisting. I started my first job as an Employment Consultant back in 2015 and have been working in employment services since as I find it rewarding and satisfying in playing a role to assist client’s lives.
What are the day-to-day duties involved in being a Job Coach?
Reverse marketing and cold calling employers to secure employment vacancies, Leading the design and execution of tailored employment pathway plans, proactively build strong relationships with key stakeholder, Develop and maintain tailored employment pathway plans, provide job seekers with the tools and confidence to re-enter the workforce, manage employer vacancies including vacancy assessment, Post placement support of job seekers and employers.
What do you love about being a Job Coach?
Assisting and playing a huge part in changing one’s life by assisting them in gaining employment, and an income to stabilise themselves and stand on their feet, supporting clients in being role models for their family members, positive feedback and outcome.
