How AimBig Can Help Improve Your Digital Literacy – And Your Chances of Finding a Job
Knowing your way around the digital world is almost essential in today’s modern workplace – especially in this “new normal” we are all living in thanks to the pandemic.
The increase in the number of people working from home, along with ever-evolving technological advancements, means people who are literate in all things digital can have greater options and opportunities when it comes to finding work.
So, how do you develop or improve your digital literacy?
What is digital literacy?
Digital literacy refers to a person’s ability to find, evaluate, and clearly communicate information via various digital platforms. It means having the skills you need to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and information is increasingly available through the internet, social media, mobile devices, and apps.
Why is digital literacy important?
The Australian Government’s Department of Education, Skills and Employment Digital Literacy Skills Framework says digital literacy skills are essential for people to effectively participate in today’s society – and especially in the modern workplace.
In today’s world, digital literacy is as important as the core educational skills of reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy. In 2019 the core learning foundation skills were renamed the LLND skills – Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy.
For people living with a disability that impairs their physical functions, digital literacy skills can be useful when it comes to finding suitable – and rewarding – work.
The government’s Digital Literacy Skills Framework has been added to the Australian Core Skills Framework. Digital literacy is now the sixth core skill in the framework.
Which means that digital literacy is a key part of the suite of core skills that are necessary for people to take part in society effectively and the workplace.
