Cameron continues to excel as a Crew Member
An estimated 1 in 5 Australians* will experience a mental health illness in any given year. For some it can be mild but for others it can be debilitating and prevent them from living a normal life. One of the most challenging things for people with mental health illnesses is entering the workforce.
At AimBig, we are here to make a difference and empower people to live to their potential. We are experts in supporting people with mental health struggles and provide an additional layer of compassion. We know how hard it can be and are here every step of the way as our participants achieve their goals. Sometimes participants with high level mental health need to ‘feel’ the support without feeling they are being pushed into employment.
AimBig Employment alongside Headspace, a Youth Mental Health organisation, assisted one of our participants, Cameron to overcome his mental health barriers and to reach for the stars!
Due to his mental health struggles, Cameron had found it hard to find a role that he could sustain. This meant that his resume was not reflective of his true potential and was sometimes getting in the way of potential jobs.
With the help of AimBig Job Coach, Carly, Cameron was able to complete his transport reimbursements and eventually buy a brand new bicycle that he uses to commute to and from his work. This has meant that he has been able to continue working in this job for more than 26 weeks.
Cameron is employed at McDonald’s as a Crew Member and works around 30 hours each week. He absolutely loves his job and has been applauded for his admirable work ethic. Because of his hard-working nature, the team at McDonalds have offered to pay for him to study his Certificate III in Retail which will enable him to progress his career even further.
We’re so proud of Cameron for everything he has achieved and are looking forward to seeing where his career journey takes him next.
