Business Has Changed – but the Doors Are Still Open

Harry King is a Regional Manager with AimBig Employment. We caught up with him earlier this week to understand how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the way we’re doing business.

“The adjustment is huge. With 95% of our work normally conducted face-to-face, and with so many of our clients finding themselves out of a job now, it feels devastating. But we’re working hard to do absolutely everything we can to provide support to everyone,” he said.

Sometimes that means simply being available to talk. And with many clients now finding they have no access to technology or the internet, AimBig has been busy sourcing dongles and loan laptops, so that services can continue throughout the lockdown period.

“And although we all miss the face-to-face contact we’re so used to, we can still provide a significant level of support during this time, both with job placement and with access to training,” Harry said.

AimBig is continuing to work closely with its employer network, especially in those sectors with high demand. With new job opportunities opening up in warehousing and logistics for example, the team has been busy matching candidates to roles.

For clients working in or studying towards employment in industries like hospitality that have been hit hard by closures and stand-downs, a shift of focus will be critical to long-term employment success.

He said, “It’s disappointing for clients who’ve done the hard yards and suddenly find themselves either out of work or with limited prospects for work in the near future, but there are still opportunities out there. Skills are transferable, and with the right training, work experience and resume, we know our clients can succeed in getting a job.”

Consultants are still on hand to provide support with job applications, preparing resumes, cover letters and interview practice. And even though our physical offices are closed for the time being, helping clients reach their goal of long-term employment means we’re keeping the doors wide open – virtually for now!
