AimBig in July

July kicked off with the Sydney Disability Connection Expo, which saw AimBig joined by our sister company, LiveBig to exhibit along with hundreds of service providers at the ICC. Thousands of participants and support coordinators joined our AimBig team in braving the weather and train strikes to experience the welcoming and informative atmosphere in the ICC and engage with visitors to our booth.

In Queensland, Jayella Bella-Isle (Activity Services Manager) & Vinita Saunders (Business Development Consultant) represented AimBig at the Dalby Careers Expo (22nd July). The expo was delivered by BEST Group (Bringing Employers and Students Together), an initiative of the Department of Employment, Small Business & Training. Jayella & Vinita connected with students, providing information on opportunities, career pathways and how AimBig can assist as an Employment Services Provider.

Our AimBig team in Tamworth finished off the month at the Tamworth Homeless Connect Day (28th July), this amazing event provides access to free, appropriate services to homeless people and those at risk of becoming homeless, on one day in one location. NSW State Manager Mathew McIntyre joined Team Leader Belinda Richardson in Tamworth for the event. Belinda provided the following recap:

‘The Tamworth Homeless Connect Day was another great success – there were 54 service providers present and 1350 people attended on the day – this is the most providers and most visitors we have ever had at one of our Homeless Connect Days.

The large numbers kept everyone very busy – the Rapid Relief Team supplied the catering and the tea and coffee – Tamworth Community College also supplied tea and coffee on the day – this year we had 7 hairdressers and they were flat out all day (thank you to 2340 Barber Shop and Southside Hair & Beauty for supplying the hairdressers) – Foodbank attended for the first time with 24 pallets of fresh produce – and One Of A Kind once again supplied the clothing for the event.

I received great feedback from customers about the success and importance of the day and this result was only achievable with the great support of the sponsors, providers, volunteers and the Tamworth Homeless Connect committee.’
