Meet the A Team – Tina
In the latest of our staff series, we’ll be introducing you to some of the lovely staff that work at AimBig Employment.
In this edition of Meet The Team, we’ll introduce you to Tina, one of the Business Managers based in Proserpine, QLD. Everyone, meet Tina!
Why did you choose to work in Employment Services?
I joined Employment Services 12 years ago to gain entry into the Support Worker Services sector hoping to transition across into Disability & Aged Care Services. 12 years on and I’m still in Employment Services!
What does a day in the life of your role look like?
Hahaha, honestly, sometimes it looks like a Skittles Bag! No day is the same, that’s why I love my job. Mostly it’s behind the scenes work, a lot of administration, reporting, meetings and when I can, working with job seekers to improve their lives.
What do you love about your role?
The challenges, diversity and the ability to change peoples lives, customers and my staff and knowing that I have the ability learn so much everyday.
Can you recall a time when you have helped a participant?
I recently worked with a disengaged participant who was suffering from mental health conditions. Through identifying his personal circumstances, I was able to support him to engage better with us and encourage him to complete the Triple P program (Positive Parenting Program) and recognise what upskilling he required to get back into work. After referring him to upgrade his Plant Machinery licences and gain a Licence To Operate A Boom Type Elevating Work Platform Boom Length 11 Metres Or More, he found employment and has relocated. There were many times this participant attended the office disengaged and uninterested in doing anything, but with my support and guidance he has seen what he could gain from upskilling and participating and that ultimately, he is better off. The participant is still working in that role.
What is a fun fact about yourself that people may not know?
I have a step brother in England who is older than me.
